The Ghosts of Nothing: Black Butterflies and Suicide

Sean Lowry, Ilmar Taimre, feat. Laura Purcell

6pm November 18, 2017 (Saturday)

Location: The Hobart Convict Penitentiary, Hobart, Tasmania.

The Ghosts of Nothing are an artistic collaboration between Sean Lowry and Ilmar Taimre. In Memory of Johnny B. Goode is an “open work” now spanning several years based around an allegorical repurposing of the fictional pop cultural figure Johnny B. Goode anachronistically re-cast as the historical figure of the alienated artist/clown known as Pierrot. To date, this work has been remedialised as a rock opera, a radio play, and a “world tour” of mime-based collaborative performances. For this performance, Tasmanian artist Laura Purcell will present Black Butterfliesand Suicide—the final scenes in Act III of In Memory of Johnny B. Goode—World Tour of Abandoned Gaol-Houses 2017.
