It is made up of leading national and international artists who are interested in linking the possibility of change, sequence and intervention into an engagement with public art practice. It provides a rare opportunity for a range of different contemporary art organisations to work together on the realisation of a trans-institutional project that consists of 13 commissions, a symposium, and a significant publication that documents the series.

Lookout

BEC STEVENS, JACK ROBINS, NANCY MAURO-FLUDE, ANDREW HARPER, ADAM CUTHBERT, MARY SCOTT, DAVID KEELING, JULIE GOUGH, MICHAEL SINGE

CURATORS: MICHAEL EDWARDS & JANE STEWART // Lookout is the sixth project in a series partnered by CAST and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery which aims to promote contemporary Tasmanian artists. Though the nine artists are at different stages in their careers, each looks outwards and responds directly to the world surrounding them. Demonstrating an awareness of a new internationalism in contemporary art practice, they create artworks that reference a divergent range of local and global issues including the environment, history, politics, knowledge systems and public spaces.

Your call is important to us

TRICKY WALSH, SCOT COTTERELL, ANTHONY JOHNSON

CURATORS: MICHAEL EDWARDS & CRAIG JUDD // Your call is important to us is the fourth collaboration between TMAG and CAST, situated in the historic Bond Store gallery. The artists in the exhibition are not concerned with referencing the form or function of the Bond Store as a charged historical entity. In keeping with a good deal of recent practice, their responses to the Bond Store 'site' are loosely aligned with a discursive engagement with the both the identifying properties of the umbrella institution (TMAG) and the discourses they reveal from the flow or Erlebnis of their daily lives.
